Creative Mentoring - Featuring Great Life Mentor Adam Bullock

Adam Bullock is a loyal, thorough and chill person who prizes time with his family above all else. He works in digital marketing for a small ad agency, exercises at least three times a week and rests at the end of the day with some Netflix or gaming with friends. But let’s talk about what he loves the most - time with his wife and children. He loves watching his kids grow and explore.Adam tells us that he follows a parenting style called RIE. He said, “It is about respecting children and allowing them to grow and thrive in predictable environments.” “So,” he says, “I’m often watching as my children discover new ways to play, and I'm constantly delighted by their creativity and joy.”It is that heart that Adam brings to mentoring. “I decided to switch careers away from digital marketing to teaching and wanted more opportunities to be around children. I also wanted to give back to the community that I was born and raised in.” Adam signed up to be a Great Life mentor for one year, and that was four years ago! He values what he has learned from being in the program and what it brings to his friend, so, he has stayed on year after year.Adam said, “I found that my friend's emotional regulation is better when I'm able to see him in a predictable way. I've seen him grow into the person he is today, and I'm proud of how he handles situations that he tells me about.” Previously, Adam had noticed his friend being worried about how he was perceived by others but now, he says, “He embraces himself and is really his own person.” Growing in confidence is a benefit many Great Life Mentoring children receive from their mentoring experience.Adam has always been very patient. He says, “I really feel like that helps with mentoring as patience gives a mentor the opportunity to take a breath and contemplate on how to best to handle a situation, or even just to listen to your friend. That's the most important thing, for you to acknowledge and listen to your friends.”Great Life Mentoring is proud to feature Adam Bullock as a Great Life mentor, and celebrate his four years of patient, creative and consistent care.Adam’s favorite quote sums things up nicely - As Albus Dumbledore says to Harry Potter toward the end of the series - ”Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean it is not real?"
