Great Life Mentoring Partners with the Humane Society

In celebration of our 25th anniversary, Great Life Mentoring (GLM) is giving back to the community! We chose to partner with the Humane Society because both organizations share a commitment to building meaningful connections.

Over the past 25 years, GLM has enriched the lives of more than 1,000 young people. Great things happen when you pair caring adults with kids most in need of inspiration, kindness, and support. The youth benefit from time with their mentor each week, and so do the mentors! Community service strengthens our bond as a society and improves the world around us.

In their weekly time together, it is not uncommon for mentors and kids to visit the Humane Society in Southwest Washington or Portland, Oregon. Some regularly spend time with the animals, while others have even become volunteers together.

The Oregon Humane Society (OHS) and the Humane Society for Southwest Washington (HSSW) finds homes for more than 19,000 pets each year! The OHS medical team also provides free and low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for thousands of pets owned by low-income families.

This past weekend, staff, board members, mentors, and youth had the opportunity to visit with animals, each choosing a pet to promote on social media in hopes of finding them a forever home. GLM is proud to contribute to the Humane Society’s efforts in caring for animals, making meaningful connections, and helping to create a more humane society.

If you or someone you know is interested in adopting one of the featured pets, contact the Oregon Humane Society and let them know you found your new friend here.

And if you are interested in being part of something great by mentoring a youth in need, apply right this way at our Mentor Application page or make a donation to help ensure more youth receive the care and support they need to live a great life.
