Updated Health Guidelines for Great Life Mentoring

March 9, 2022

In response to the new phase of the pandemic, Great Life Mentoring (GLM) is sharing updated health guidelines for those associated with our organization.

The Governors of Washington, Oregon and California plan to adopt new mask policies, with the change taking effect after 11:59 PM on March 11th. Please see the official announcement and state guidelines here: https://www.governor.wa.gov/news-media/governors-newsom-brown-and-inslee-announce-updated-health-guidance.

Despite many indoor mask requirements being lifted, businesses, local governments and school districts can still have their own requirements, and masks will still be required in places like healthcare settings, public transit and correctional facilities.

Protocols for mentoring with GLM have been carefully considered. GLM’s Board of Directors recommends that mentors and children follow the state and local guidelines while respecting the preferences of the mentored child’s family.

As of March 11th at 11:59 PM, masks will not be required when mentoring, but will be strongly recommended. GLM does ask that mentors respect children and parents if they request that masks be worn. Respecting the mask preference of the child and family will aid in the continued development of a healthy relationship.

GLM’s primary aim is to protect the children it serves. Mentors and children should still wear masks if they are at high risk for severe illness or if it makes them more comfortable after the mandate is lifted.

Thanks to GLM mentors for the great respect and commitment you have shown throughout these difficult times. Your non-judgmental, kind demeanor and empathy have undoubtedly brought much needed support.

We will continue to update you, should the health guidelines warrant further change. Please contact GLM staff at greatlifementoring@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.
