Clark County Youth Achievement Awards - Celebrating Three Exceptional Youth

Recognition is a powerful way to help young people feel valued and connected to their community, and Great Life Mentoring is honored to have mentors and young people participate in this year’s Youth Achievement Awards celebration.

The Clark County Youth Commission hosted the 21st annual county-wide celebration June 9, 2019, with hundreds of young people and their families. Three of the well-deserved awards went to young people who were nominated by their Great Life mentors.

Youth development research demonstrates that having opportunities for positive involvement in the community, and being recognized for that involvement, helps young people to be healthy, happy and successful. The event recognized youth achievements that demonstrate personal growth and community contributions.

This article celebrates three of the many exceptional young award-winners in our community.

Adrian Prasad received awards for Inspiration and Personal Achievement. Adrian is an inspiration to the students and teachers around him. He became an assistant in the class where he had once struggled. Before graduating from high school, he helped other classmates get caught up and on track. He is an incredibly positive and engaging person who we expect will see many more personal achievements and successes in life.

Cassidy Marsing has a tremendous dedication to becoming her best self. She received awards for Empathy and Tolerance. Realizing we are all different, but at the important levels, very similar, she promotes respect, understanding and compassion. Her shining qualities impact those around her. Cassidy is a unifying force who is seeking to create the best possible life for herself. We believe she will attain just that.

Hailey Klinger earned awards for Education and Personal Achievement. She embodies perseverance and confidence. Small obstacles just don't stop her. With optimism, she arose from difficulty to success in math and other subjects. She did this by putting effort into daily assignments until things finally “clicked.” By pressing on in adversity, she proved she could do it, and now maintains high grades. That may also be how she got to be such a great skater, skateboarder, swimmer and gymnast. Go Hailey!

As a witness to their amiable qualities, Great Life Mentoring celebrates these three and wishes them the very best and continued successes - Enjoy your Great Life!
