Outstanding - Featuring Great Life Mentor Nathan Fuller

Nathan Fuller is a person of excellence, and that carries through all areas of his life. He works in corporate learning and development, and spends the majority of his work time determining how to improve training, the participant experience and influence behaviors. This is a good fit for Nathan: He is someone who appreciates quality and has passion for things like taking great care of the belongings he has worked to acquire, improving the environment around him, powerlifting, biking and running. He’s even distinctive in the kitchen.

Because Nathan loves to cook, he spends time each day planning new meals and trying new recipes. He says, “I really enjoy the creativity of cooking. You get to put something together that you can share with those around you. Food brings people together, and I love sharing a good meal with the people in my life.” Some of Nathan’s specialties are home made pasta, some kind of meat in the sous vide, and a white chocolate raspberry cheesecake or creme brûlée. Nathan is happiest when being active, being with friends and family, and cooking and eating a great meal.

Nathan says that his biggest accomplishment has been figuring out what is important in life and finding appreciation for what he has every day. He says, “The most important thing to me is helping those around me grow and develop. I feel no greater joy than seeing those closest to me succeed in whatever it is they want to accomplish in life.”

And so, it makes sense that this man of high caliber chose to volunteer as a Great Life mentor. He wanted to have a positive impact on the life of a child, because he has experienced the benefits of positive influences in his own life. “Coaches, mentors, friends and family have all had positive influences on me. Some of the influences have been challenging me to push through, while others have been there to listen to me when I needed it the most. I truly cherish those around me for who they are and how they have influenced my life.”

Nathan has spent his own time, consistently since 2016, hanging out with a child who needed a friend. They like to play card games and board games together, and the experience has taught Nathan about himself and others. He says he has seen his friend grow in confidence and challenge himself in school and sports. But his favorite part of being a mentor is seeing his friend’s face light up with joy.

For a person who is passionate about improving the lives of those around him, this is the winning ticket. Nathan’s friend’s face truly lights up with joy like no other. Put that together with creme brûlée, and you’ve got a quality life.
