Double Your Donation

Have you ever wanted to donate to a good cause, like Great Life Mentoring (GLM), and wished you could give more? Maybe you’ve got $25 to give and wish it could be $50, or you’re able to give $100 and think $200 would be even better. One of our mentors turned his $2,500 donation to GLM into $5,000 simply by utilizing his employer’s match program and donating through a platform called Benevity.

18 million employees work for a company that uses Benevity to promote philanthropy by matching employee donations. But over 75% of eligible donors don’t know they work for companies with matching gift programs. If you don’t know whether your employer uses Benevity, check with your HR department. You may be able to double the impact of your donation.

Here are three easy steps to giving a child a great life:

  1. Find out if your employer uses Benevity and matches employee donations (there may be a minimum or maximum amount).
  2. Follow the instructions to donate through the portal. Donations to GLM in 2021 can be made to our umbrella organization, Columbia River Mental Health Services, until GLM’s transition to its own 501(c)(3) (your donation will fund our expansion).
  3. Great Life Mentoring will receive a double donation and expand to serve more children!

Benevity is the global leader in online workplace giving, matching, volunteering and grant management solutions, and they will process more than a billion dollars in donations this year, benefiting over 100,000 global charities. Make sure your donation is one of them!

Does your employer use Benevity?

There is no comprehensive list of every company that uses Benevity, but hundreds of Fortune 1000 companies around the world use the system to facilitate their workplace volunteering, granting and giving. Here is a short list of 30 we’re aware of:

ADP Home Depot Okta
Agoda Honda Pfizer
Ameriprise Financial Intel Prudential
AstraZeneca Jacobs RBC
Cigna John Deere Samsung
COFRA Holding Levi Strauss & Co. Sokexo
Coco-Cola Merck Starbucks
Farmers Insurance Microsoft Toyota
Google Nike Twitter
Hewlett Packard Enterprise Nordstrom Visa

If you don’t see your employer on this list, they may still be involved, so check with them today. And when you do, ask if your company offers grants for volunteer time.

There is typically a minimum number of hours required, and when you turn your volunteer hours in to your employer, they’ll make a financial contribution to the organization. One of our mentors turned his 50 volunteer hours into a $500 donation for GLM.

Check in with a GLM staff member if you need verification of your volunteer hours. Please also check with greatlifementoring@gmail.com if you have any questions about donating through Benevity.

Thank you for considering a donation to Great Life Mentoring. If if doesn’t work out for you to double your donation through Benevity, that’s okay. We’d greatly appreciate your donation of any amount given directly through our own website here. It will help Great Life Mentoring expand and serve more children. Thank you!
