Influencing Kindness

Sandra Berrios is an optimistic and approachable person who cares about things like world hunger and healthcare for all… You like her already, right? So do we.

She is a special person who came from humble beginnings and feels lucky to be where she is. Sandra has a busy career, working at Nike World Headquarters where she spends a lot of time coaching and developing her employees. She says they also teach her new things; like how to stay relevant with the younger crowd.

This young woman is also adventurous. She spent two and a half years living alone in Singapore, not knowing anyone, starting a new job and all from scratch. This incredible experience opened her eyes to diverse cultures and backgrounds. She feels extremely lucky to be American.

It was ingrained in Sandra’s life from childhood “to care deeply and be nice to others.” Her mother influenced this by being a compassionate and giving person. Being exposed to those things, Sandra says, “made me realize the power in being nice and the impact that has on others.” She continues, “I’m very passionate about helping others, but mainly reminding people that the basis of life is to be nice to one another. All laws, rules, values and morals come from just being nice to one another!” She lives with this core value and hopes to influence others to do the same.

In her passion to help, Sandra volunteered to be a Great Life mentor. She wanted to believe in someone, and to help them achieve their full potential. More than a year later, she is finding it a great experience. She enjoys spending time with her friend and watching her grow and mature. Speaking of the child she mentors, Sandra says, “It never fails to amaze me how resilient she is.”

Sandra Berrios has a unique interest — she likes to solve problems that “make my head hurt.” Her evenings often consist of working on one of many business ideas she has, and they are always humanitarian ideas. “I’ve always wanted to figure out a way to support minorities, assimilation of programs and education services.” She works on this passion on her own time.

To stay in balance, Sandra also loves running, yoga and time with friends and family. But most of Sandra seems to be giving to others. Whether she is helping a single person to believe in themselves, or aiming for whole people groups, Sandra’s compassion and optimism lead her through life.
